47Mitigate the Urban Heat Island effect of roofs and paved surfaces

Conduct educational outreach regarding the benefits of cool roofs and green roofs to energy bills, community environment, and how to use PACE to finance the improvements. Develop incentive programs to encourage the use of cool roofs and high Solar Reflectivity Index (SRI) paving materials. Ensure that all City projects use high SRI materials meeting the requirements for credit under LEED v4 at minimum.
